The Competition Outline
The aim of this competition is to foster creativity and feature Bronze Casting, an art which is little known to the general public.
The competition will put modeling and bronze casting into the limelight and honor a prominent Lebanese artist in this field.
To honor ZAVEN, a prominent artist in the field by holding an exhibition of his bronze creations;
To present him one of his sculptures, casted in bronze in a large size, in this occasion;
To give an illustrated talk about bronze casting and to exhibit casting materials;
To hold an exhibition of the models of the competition and to offer the three winners larger size bronze casted exemplar of their models.
Outline of the Competition
Participants of the competition will be asked to deliver to MACAM a model, not less than thirty centimeters in height. The models will be exhibited and a jury will select three models to be enlarged and casted in bronze and offered to the winners.
Anybody can enter the competition by registering before December 20, 2013 and submitting a model not smaller than thirty centimeters before Friday, January 31, 2014.
MACAM in Alita
Three artists will be recognized as winners and their models will be casted in bronze and numbered in three exemplars after being enlarged by the artists themselves.
Each of the artists will get his/her enlarged casted work, the sponsor will get three sculptures, and three will remain in the Museum with the casts.
A committee of five including art critics, activists in the art field, the honored artist and the sponsor will select the three winners.
Friday, December 6, 2013: Deadline Extended to Friday, December 20, 2013
Deadline for registering in the bronze casting competition at MACAM in Alita or at RectoVerso in Beirut.
Friday, January 31, 2014: Deadline for the delivery of the small models at MACAM in Alita or at RectoVerso in Beirut.
Saturday, March 8, 2014:
4 pm: Illustrated lecture by Nabil Basbous and exhibition about bronze casting
5 pm: Exhibition of the models in MACAM and announcement of the three winning models for enlargement and casting.
Saturday, May 10, 2014: At MACAM
4pm: Honoring ZAVEN and exhibiting his bronze works.
5pm: Exhibition of the three winning sculptures after being casted in larger sizes and a new large bronze casted sculpture by ZAVEN.
The casted sculptures will be distributed: one for the artist, one for the sponsor and one remains in the museum.
N.B. The small models will all remain at the museum where they may be exhibited.
